As a Certified Green Professional Arvola Homes can help you with as much or as little green home building as you desire.
Main Principles of Green Building
Energy Efficiency Reduce the amount of energy needed to operate your home. From our resources and ability to consult with you on different heating/cooling systems, to helping you build a much more air-tight home with Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) or even as simple as designing how your home lays out with the sun and the environment around it we can help you create a more energy efficient home. As an ENERGY STAR Partner our customers have been able to see how their homes will operate by making different changes to how we build it even before we build it. Ask us how.
Resource Efficiency Recycling is a large part of this green principle. Our dumpster service is a huge contributor to helping us with this by recycle all materials they are able to recycle such as wood, metal, cardboard, plastic and even shingles. Not only recycling but also minimizing creating the waste initially helps reduce our overall impact. With our Structural Insulated Panel building systems less jobsite waste is created. Also, the software of the cutting machines at our manufacturer's plant actually cut materials in a way that optimizes the use of each panel and each stud therefore creating the least amount of waste possible.
Water Conservation Maximize the efficient use of water in and around your home. Whether you want to help reduce the stress on available water supplies or appreciate saving money we can help with water conservation in your new home. Low-flow shower heads, dual flush toilets, water efficient washing machines are just a few of the many things we can include in your home to help with water efficiency. Even our customers that use well water who don't need to pay for city water still appreciate water efficiency. The less water they use the less wear and tear on their well pump, septic system, water softener and other systems in and around their home that use water.
Indoor Environmental Quality Whether you have asthma, allergies, young children or would just like to live in a healthy environment, indoor air quality is an important aspect of green building. Proper air exchange through ventilation, low-emitting products like low or no-VOC paints reduce off-gassing, reducing opportunity of moisture intrusion are all ways Arvola Homes can help you build the home with the proper, healthy indoor environmental quality you and your family want and need.
Operation, Maintenance and Homeowner Education How the home is built is only part of the equation. A homeowner with a high quality, energy efficient home can do a lot to help make sure the home keeps its quality and runs as efficiently as possible. From orientation walk-throughs to the Home Maintenance Guideline handbooks custom created for your Arvola Home to the continued Arvola Homes customer support we want to make sure you as our customer are keeping your most important asset a valuable, efficient, comfortable, healthy, well operating asset.
The technologies and practices required to build a green home to certain criteria may result in lower costs to operate the home. Energy-efficient appliances, lighting systems, and HVAC equipment result in lower energy consumption compared to other models. Using less water through water-conserving faucets, showers, toilets, and irrigation systems may also result in less water consumption. Properly sized HVAC systems mean that less energy is needed to condition spaces. Employing technologies such as photovoltaic panels for solar electricity and water heating, and geothermal heat exchangers could reduce dependence on public utilities, too.
Maintenance
Effective stormwater management and landscaping could mean less time maintaining outside spaces. Also, green building practices lead to the use of some longer-performing materials and careful construction assemblies. Drained foundations, water spouts on gutters, and flashing around windows and doors might reduce the opportunity for system failure within the home due to moisture intrusion.
The Environment
Increased energy and water efficiency in construction could lead to decreased energy and water consumption in a home throughout its lifespan. Further, some renewable, recycled, and other efficient building products used in green home construction may reduce the impact on natural resources. Also, green homes often include resource and waste reduction and recycling amenities.
